FC Barcelona has released an official statement regarding the ongoing issues surrounding the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor for the remainder of the season. The two players currently face uncertainty due to the club’s financial constraints, which have prevented their inclusion in the wage bill for 2025.
Barcelona’s financial struggles have created significant roadblocks in registering their summer acquisitions, Olmo and Víctor, before the deadline. As of now, both players are ineligible to represent the team beyond January. Efforts by the club to resolve the matter have been met with setbacks, including the rejection of recent court appeals aimed at facilitating their registration.
Amid mounting speculation in the media, reports surfaced that Barcelona had approached La Liga with a request for an extension to the registration deadline. These rumors suggested that the club sought additional time to address the compliance issues tied to their economic situation.
Barcelona was quick to dismiss such claims, releasing a statement through their official website and social media channels. The statement read:
“FC Barcelona informs that it has applied for a new license for the players Daniel Olmo and Pau Víctor to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The Club would like to deny having requested or receiving any moratorium to any governing body for these inscriptions.”
This clarification aimed to refute suggestions that the Catalan club sought special consideration from La Liga regarding the January 2 deadline.
Following Barcelona’s statement, La Liga issued a response, confirming that the club had not presented any compliant alternatives for registering the players. The league’s statement emphasized adherence to its financial regulations, noting:
“FC Barcelona has not presented any alternative that, in compliance with LaLiga’s economic control regulations, would allow it to register any player after 2 January.”
As things stand, Barcelona faces a race against time to resolve the registration issues of Olmo and Víctor, with their immediate availability for the team hanging in the balance.
